What is ActuallyFind?
ActuallyFind is a South African marketplace where private sellers and buyers buy and sell vehicles directly, person to person. No dealers, and listing is free.
You can buy and sell cars, bakkies, motorcycles, quad bikes and side-by-sides, caravans, motorhomes and trailers, and minibuses, panel vans, trucks and buses. Every listing is a vehicle with a VIN, sold by the person who owns it.
Is there an alternative to the big car-selling websites for private sellers?
Yes. ActuallyFind is built only for private sellers and the buyers looking for them. Dealers and anyone selling vehicles as a business may not list, so you are always dealing with the owner. Listing is free, and there is no commission when the vehicle sells.
Where can I buy a car directly from its owner in South Africa?
On ActuallyFind. Every seller is a private person selling their own vehicle. Search by make, model, year, price and how far it is from you, then contact the seller directly by phone or WhatsApp. The seller's number is shown to signed-in buyers.
How does ActuallyFind help protect buyers from scams?
- Private sellers only: no dealers, and vehicles only, nothing else.
- Every listing needs the vehicle's VIN, and a vehicle can only be listed once at a time.
- Phone numbers, email addresses and website links are removed from descriptions, so contact goes through the listing.
- A seller's phone number is only shown to buyers who are signed in.
- Listings that look suspicious, such as a placeholder price or a price far below what the vehicle is worth, can be taken down, and we always tell the seller why.
Always see the vehicle and its papers before you pay, check that the VIN on the vehicle matches the licence disc and registration papers, and never pay a deposit for a vehicle you haven't seen.
Should I sell my car to a car-buying company or sell it privately?
A car-buying company is quick: they make an offer and pay fast, but they have to resell the car at a profit, so the offer is usually below what the car would fetch from a private buyer. Selling privately takes a little longer, but you deal with the buyer directly, with no middleman taking a margin, so you usually get closer to what the car is worth.
On ActuallyFind you set your own price, listing is free, and there is no commission.
How much does it cost to sell on ActuallyFind?
Listing is free. You can have up to 3 active listings at a time, each live for 30 days with up to 12 photos, and you can relist an expired listing up to twice.
Go Managed is an optional paid extra for one listing: up to 90 days on the site, up to 24 photos, a weekly move back to the top of the newest listings, and analytics on views and phone-number requests. The price is shown on the Go Managed page before you pay.
Does ActuallyFind take a commission when my vehicle sells?
No. ActuallyFind is a listing service, not a dealer, and is not part of the sale. We don't take a commission, negotiate for you or handle the money between buyer and seller. See our Terms.
Will my listing show up on Google and in AI assistants?
Every active listing is made available to search engines such as Google and Bing and to AI assistants, so buyers can find your vehicle wherever they search, not only on ActuallyFind. How high a listing appears in their results is up to them.
Who runs ActuallyFind?
ActuallyFind is run by Edward Baitsewe in South Africa. Questions are welcome on the Contact page.
